Sea buckthorn

Sea buckthorn is a nutrient dense berry oil that helps repair, nourish and protect the skin. It is one of the rare plant sources of omega 7, the fatty acid your skin uses to rebuild a strong, healthy barrier.

Sea buckthorn
The source

What is it?

Sea buckthorn is a thorny shrub with bright orange berries that grows on poor, windswept ground along coasts and in the mountains. Those harsh conditions are exactly what make the plant so potent.

From the berries and seeds we press a deep orange oil that has been used to repair skin for centuries. Sea buckthorn is one of the few plant sources of omega 7, and it is also rich in omega 3, 6 and 9, vitamin C, vitamin E and carotenoids.

How it works

What does it do for your skin?

Repairs the skin barrier

The rare omega 7 in sea buckthorn feeds the upper layer of the skin and helps a weakened barrier recover, so your skin holds on to moisture and protects itself better.

Nourishes and protects

Sea buckthorn is full of antioxidants, vitamin C and vitamin E. Together they help neutralise free radicals and support an even, resilient skin that looks healthier.

Calms dry, irritated skin

The fatty acids in sea buckthorn soften dry or flaky skin and help bring redness and irritation back to rest.

Frequently asked questions

Why is sea buckthorn so special?+
It is one of the few plant sources of omega 7, a fatty acid your skin recognises and uses to rebuild its barrier, so the skin feels nourished and resilient more quickly.
Does sea buckthorn oil stain the skin orange?+
No. The oil is deep orange in itself because of the carotenoids, but in a skincare product the concentration is balanced so it does not rub off on your skin.
Which skin is sea buckthorn suitable for?+
Almost every skin, and it is especially valuable for dry, mature, sensitive or recovering skin that needs repair and nourishment.
Can I use sea buckthorn every day?+
Yes. As part of a cream or oil it is gentle enough for daily use, ideally in the evening so it can support the skin overnight.
