Rosacea

The skin is an organ that indicates when something is not in balance in your body so it is very important to address the issue. People with nice red cheeks often think that they look very healthy. But if this is caused by rosacea, you are dealing with a real skin infection. In fact, it’s an inflammation in your body you can’t see: rosacea is caused by an imbalance between omega 3 and omega 6. This causes low grade inflammation at the cellular level. This manifests itself first in the skin: dilated capillaries on the cheeks, redness, irritation and sometimes also pimples. The dilated capillaries are caused by oxygen deficiency because of that imbalance. However, this also means that all cells in your body have that oxygen deficiency which in turn is not good for your overall immune system. The advice from our skin therapist is to start taking Omega 3 supplements. You'll find it in fish and algae oil! You can also eat oily fish every day, but this may not be feasible.

Note : Do not use oils, not even natural oils when experiencing an active flare up of rosacea.

Abloom Slow Skincare don't clean your face too often

Rebalance the skin barrier

Our skin therapist advices "less is better" with rosacea. In the morning splash your face with cold water and only clean your face at night, using our mild Organic Purifying Cleanser. The therapeutic ingredients are very gentle and will not further irritate your skin.

Calming serums

Rosacea does not like fatty substances (not even natural!), which may be very difficult if you want something soothing on your skin. Our advice is to layer both our Organic Hydrating Toner and Soothing Lotion. They are abundantly packed with anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial ingredients while at the same time help calm rosacea.

Abloom Slow Skincare try avoiding make-up

Avoid mineral oil in make-up

To help and calm the skin, our advice is to limit the use of make-up. If or when you can't do without try and make sure to avoid products that contain mineral oil. It is an ingredient that closes off the skin so it can no longer breathe and excrete sweat and dirt (the main function of your skin). In return your skin will produce even more sebum (because of that layer of “plastic”) but it can't go anywhere resulting in enlarged pores, blackheads, pimples and red spots.
